Semester and Birthday!

February has had quite the start. The 1st was the first day of 2nd semester classes. So far they seem to be going well. Now that I am very much into the Kinesiology program I have many of the same teachers for multiple classes and all my classes are in the same building. They are very straight forward college classes - lecture all day, 3 or 4 exams, read the chapters before class to prepare, luckily they are topics that interest me very greatly. It was nice to go to all four classes straight and be done by 12:30 so I had time to enjoy lunch and have afternoon to do things. Yesterday may not have been my best use of time as I went out to lunch with friend and then got Brode early and him, Matt, and I went to the mall to find Brode new shoes.... but I'm sure I'll learn as the semester goes on and I'm bombarded with homework!
The 2nd continued with a new start: my 21st year! Yes the day many college kids dream of is finally here. My birthday will be spent in class and working, but hopefully won't be too bad. This birthday reminds me a lot of New Years. All the hype leading up to being a legal alcohol consumer, comes and goes as the clock turns midnight. I realize many people love this birthday and celebrate as one of their largest, and I hate to be a downer, but it is not quite as exciting for me. I am NOT saying that if I get a free weekend to celebrate with my best girlfriends in LaCrosse I will sit at home, no no no.I have had a child, completed more than half of college, made the decision to put my child through skull surgery, stood by his side through the process, signed all the legal and health insurance papers, and now I finally get the chance to have a sip of alcohol? I think I could have handled that responsibility long ago, therefore I will sophisticatedly be "ringing in this new year" with a few friends, not on the bar.
Oh yeah, Brode did wish me a Happy Birthday this morning and it was about all I needed! It went a little like "Ma a ba da a zuzu a na da" much like all of his sentences and words do.

It's nice to hear another 21 year old college student talk about their 21st like that. I turned 21 a week after killian turned 1.. and HELLO, turning 1 is a bigger deal :)
